Energy Efficiency Policy Baseline Assessments Covering the Main Energy Intensive Sectors of Selected Countries

Country: India, South Africa, Morocco and Indonesia

This project was conducted as part of the Three Percent Club initiative, aimed at driving global progress in energy efficiency. The primary objective was to identify key priorities, raise awareness, and assess potential energy efficiency improvements across various end-use sectors in India, Morocco, South Africa, and Indonesia. The project also sought to provide recommendations for strategic interventions, identify gaps in energy efficiency innovation, and propose opportunities for market creation and transformation in priority sectors. The scope of the project included :

i) Extensive research and policy analysis was carried out to examine the current energy efficiency policies and programs in the four countries. This included documenting existing energy efficiency targets and evaluating the level of implementation.
ii) Key barriers to energy efficiency were identified and analyzed in detail. This led to the prioritization of sectors where energy efficiency targets could be increased, aligned with the ambitions of the Three Percent Club.
iii)Local stakeholders from both the public and private sectors were engaged to validate the findings and gather support for the proposed recommendations. This process was crucial for ensuring the successful implementation of the strategies to overcome barriers and capitalize on energy efficiency opportunities in each country.
