Development of Bankable Feasibility Studies for Selected Environmental Technology Projects in the Manufacturing Industry in the Areas of Water and Wastewater Treatment, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Country: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger and Nigeria
The primary objective of the UNIDO project “Transfer of Environmentally Sound Technologies (TEST) for the Strengthening of Industries’ Environmental/Social Responsibility Capacities in the Niger Basin” is to enhance sustainable practices among industries in the region. This project seeks to minimize environmental pollution in the Niger River Basin by encouraging the adoption of resource-efficient and cleaner production methods, ultimately enabling industries to contribute actively to integrated water resource management and improve their environmental and social responsibility.
Key Tasks Performed:
Analyzed audit reports from 19 pilot companies across nine countries to identify recommended environmental improvements and investment opportunities.
Collaborated with UNIDO and companies to select 3-4 high-impact investment projects focused on water, wastewater treatment, renewable energy, and energy efficiency.
Conducted detailed feasibility studies covering economic, environmental, and social impacts, including financial modelling, risk assessment, and potential returns on investment.
Develop financial models in USD to estimate project viability and assess indicators like return on capital, payback period, and debt service coverage.
