Green Climate Fund Project Preparation Capacity Development for Bankability – GCF Readiness Program Jordan

Country: Jordan

The primary goal of this project was to enhance the institutional capacities of the National Designated Authority (NDA), prospective Direct Access Entities (DAEs), and related government ministries to effectively engage with the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This included developing skills to prepare bankable project proposals for climate finance, thereby ensuring stronger country ownership, increased private sector involvement, and a robust pipeline of climate finance projects.
This project required building institutional capacity in the area of preparation of bankable project proposals for climate finance. Therefore the  institutional capacity-building efforts were implemented through the following activities:

i) Development of a “Project Preparation for Bankability Guide”:
-Designed for the NDA, candidate DAEs, and relevant ministries, this guide aimed to strengthen institutional capabilities in preparing bankable project proposals for climate finance.
– It supported the identification, design, and implementation of priority projects while ensuring a standardized methodology for national stakeholders.

ii) Training Workshop Design and Facilitation:
-Conducted by GGGI and the NDA, this workshop introduced the guide to key stakeholders.
-It focused on building the capacity of the NDA and other stakeholders to enhance their ability to prepare and manage climate finance projects effectively.
